Funny man Jeff Dunham bringing his band of puppets to Beaumont

International comedy sensation Jeff Dunham will be at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas, on April 23, as he enters the home stretch of his “Perfectly Unbalanced” tour.

Dunham says on his website that he promises to leave the audiences in stitches as he offers up a blend of comedy and ventriloquism with his band of puppets, including Peanut, Walter, Jose the Jalapeno and dead terrorist Achmed. For over 45 years the comedian has entertained audiences and has generated over 1 billion YouTube views.

Dunham, a Texas native, graduated from Baylor University and then moved to Los Angeles in 1988 to focus his energy on the skill that he says began at the age of 8 with a Mortimer Snerd dummy given to him by his parents.

Since that first doll, Dunham has personally created a menagerie of puppets from inspirations he derives from the dozens of toys kept in his home office in California.

In a 2016 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dunham said the toys are an important part of the puppet-conception process.

“What I do for a living is whimsical and fun and ridiculous. I’m supposed to make people laugh. We all have that child in us,” he said.

“For many people, that child gets pushed into a corner. But if you want to be creative, that little kid can never go away.”

Dunham has experienced great success with his original style of humor. In 2015, the comedian was named one of the highest-paid comedians by Forbes magazine, and last year he was nominated for a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. He recently set the Guinness World Record for the most tickets sold for a stand-up comedy tour.

His “Perfectly Unbalanced” tour will conclude next month in California.
