WELSH — The Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce will host its inaugural Farmers Appreciation Social 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Henderson Implement and Marine, 211 Service Road West.
“Farming is not just a job, it’s a way of life,” said Linda LeBlanc, chamber sales and event manager. “The culture of our parish is agriculturally based.”
Nearly 80,000 acres of rice and 11,000 acres of soybeans were planted in the parish last year.
“Farmers and their families make sacrifices to continue our traditions and customs.” she said. “The Farmers Appreciation Social is a way to show appreciation and support to the farmers and farm-related businesses of Jeff Davis Parish.”
The chamber revised its annual appreciation breakfast this year so farmers would have the opportunity to drop in and bring their families, she said. There will be no awards or speakers this year.
“It will be a time to socialize and network with others in the farming community,” LeBlanc said.
The event will be open to all Jeff Davis Parish farmers, ranches and farm supply companies.
Jambalaya will be served. Dress is casual.
