Mobile ad blocking may seem like a big hit to publishers and mobile advertisers, but Felix Salmon writes that it’s really not as bad as it seems. Despite the wide use of desktop ad blockers, Salmon says online ad revenues have continued to rise, likely due to more people spending more time on more pages. Though some of those impressions may have never been seen by a human, Salmon says: “There’s waste in all advertising. TV ads are your cue to wander off to the kitchen to grab a beer; ads in newspapers and magazines are often never seen at all; posters on the street get defaced or otherwise covered up.”
