One might get the sense from looking at recent opinion polls that support for The Donald is crumbling. Here is his RCP average, for example:
It makes it seem like Trump, who’s represented by the blue line here to emphasize that he is a Blue Dog Democrat, peaked in mid-September after surging from early July on throughout the summer’s silly season. And there is something to be said for that reading: there were three polls in early September that put his percentage of the vote at or above 30%.
But do not get your hopes up just yet, low-energy candidates and dormant doctors! Here is Google Search interest in “Beautiful Walls” and “Tremendous Winning”:
High and holding steady, it looks like for now. Perhaps the downward movement from the last couple weeks will turn into a trend. Perhaps he will break out of this flagpole to a new plateau (is that right, Jimmy “P.”?). Or perhaps his support will continue fluctuating around a level high enough to maintain frontrunner status.
Only time will tell.
