Most political commentary these days has focused on who is number 1 in the GOP and Democratic presidential contests. The lead of the new CBS News/New York Times poll, for example, has Ben Carson besting Donald Trump among self-described Republican primary voters, 26 to 22 percent. But there is a much more important finding buried in the survey.
When the pollsters asked Republican voters who made a choice of a Republican candidate, only 28 percent said their mind was made up. Seventy-one percent said it was too early to say. Stay tuned: A lot could change before the primary season starts.
