It looks like the US isn’t the only country engaging in self-defeating behaviors when it comes to fighting terrorists.
News out of Europe indicates that Belgian authorities had solid intelligence that one of the Paris attackers was in a house in the suburb of Molenbeek. Did security forces go get him? Nope. Why?
Because a Belgian law prohibited raiding private homes between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. When they raided the house at 5:00 a.m. on-the-mark, he was gone.
You’d think this headline came from The Onion, but sadly it doesn’t.
Policymakers in the US and Europe need to understand that our war against terrorism will not be fought between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., and it won’t be done by men and women who raise their hands to let us know that THEY are the terrorists. You’d think we’d know this after fourteen years and thousands of dead citizens.
