Waterboarding isn't 'tough enough' for Donald Trump

Donald Trump is proudly pro-torture but, in a Tuesday speech in Ohio, the real question he left open is whether he is also pro-beheading. Trump had one reservation about waterboarding, saying “I like it a lot. I don’t think it’s tough enough.” So what is tough enough?

"You have to fight fire with fire," Trump decided. "We have to be so strong. We have to fight so viciously. And violently because we're dealing with violent people viciously."

Painting a picture, Trump told the few-thousand gathered in the Ohio University Eastern gymnasium that "they eat dinner like us. Can you imagine them sitting around the table or wherever they're eating their dinner, talking about the Americans don't do waterboarding and yet we chop off heads? They probably think we're weak, we're stupid, we don't know what we're doing, we have no leadership. You know, you have to fight fire with fire."

God, we’re so stupid, we don’t even behead people. Luckily, Donald Trump, super-smart businessman, is coming to save us. By beheading people, apparently.

It was unclear if Trump was advocating for the United States to allow the same kind of behaviors that ISIS and other terror groups employ. A request for clarification went unanswered by the Trump campaign.

How would you like to be the reporter who had to make that call? “Um, hello, major party presidential nominee’s campaign. Does your candidate want to the U.S. to do ISIS-style public beheadings?” (Since this is Donald Trump we’re talking about, the answer probably changes every 10 minutes or so.)

Also, according to Trump, the Trans-Pacific Partnership is a “continuing rape of our country.” In case there’s any confusion on this point,  while torture is good, metaphorical rape  is bad. When it happens to us, anyway.
