It’s homecoming week for McNeese State University. The week’s full schedule of events leads up to an exiting game. The Cowboys will host a Southland Conference rematch with Abilene Christian College Wildcats, one of the Cowboys’ toughest wins last year.
The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday night, Oct. 29, in Cowboy Stadium.
Alumni, fans and prospective students on campus attending the Cowboy Q&A/Preview Day can still purchase tickets, priced lower for 2016.
General admission for adults, ages 13 to 64, is $16. Seniors age 65 and older pay $11 for general admission. Reserved tickets for all ages are $26.
Also new this year, children ages 12 and under can receive a general admission ticket for free. However, children’s tickets must be picked up at the McNeese ticket office.
This year’s homecoming events give students and other attendees the opportunity to observe tradition – or to escape it.
Bowling in costume by black light, playing volleyball in the mud and the chance to be “forgiven” for one parking ticket up to $25 are only a few of the student activities scheduled for students.
Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach will be the grand marshal for this year’s Homecoming parade. The annual parade – with over 100 entries expected – is scheduled to roll down Ryan Street at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The pep rally takes place immediately after the parade inside Cowboy Stadium, where the 2016 Homecoming King and Queen will be revealed. A fireworks display sponsored by the McNeese Alumni Association and its corporate sponsor, Christus St. Patrick Hospital, will follow the pep rally.
On Friday, Oct. 28, the 16th Annual Step Show will be held at 6 p.m. in F.G. Bulber Auditorium. The McNeese Rodeo is scheduled for Oct. 28-29 in the Burton Complex.
“Basketball season is right around the corner,” said Tanner Stines, Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. “The Cowboys will open their season at Purdue on Nov. 11 while the Cowgirls will start the season at home on Nov. 12 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
All individual game tickets, including remaining tickets for the homecoming game and halftime event and basketball tickets for the men’s and women’s teams are on sale online at McNeeseTickets.com, in person at the ticket office in the Jack V. Doland Fieldhouse at 700 E. McNeese Street and by phone at 337-562-4678.
