Police investigating fatal hit-and-run

Lake Charles police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened at about 11:23 p.m. Friday near the intersection of McNeese Street and South Park Road.

Cpl. Larry Moss said the initial investigation revealed two women had stopped their vehicle on the shoulder of McNeese Street near the intersection of South Park Road to pick up items that had fallen from another friend's vehicle.

Moss said while the women were recovering the items, one of them, later identified as  25-year-old Donisha Stroman, was struck by a vehicle.

He said the driver did not stop and fled the scene of the crash.

Stroman’s friend was able to describe the vehicle as a light colored truck possibly white, gray or silver, Moss said.  Damage to the suspect vehicle should be located in the front bumper area.

Stroman was transported to a local area hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries as a result of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Billy Creel at 377-1306.
