UPDATE: Final suspect, female companion arrested in Moss Bluff shooting

Two more suspects have been arrested in connection to the Wednesday shooting and burglary in Moss Bluff, said authorities.

Christopher W. Jones II, 22, of Tulip St., was arrested at a Lake Charles motel Thursday night and charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery with the use of a firearm, said Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Judge Clayton Davis set his bond at $1.2 million.

Jones is one of three suspects accused of forcing their way into a home in the 2600 block of North Perkins Ferry Road of Moss Bluff, shooting the victim in the arm and leg and then fleeing with cash and several items to a nearby getaway car. Two Moss Bluff men - Austin Jones, 17, of 668 Sioux Drive, and Deante Schuffer, 18, of 260 Armistead Lane - were taken into custody Wednesday.

Myers said Friday that the investigation also led detectives to the home of Ayana F. Johnson, 22, 2780 N. Addison Loop. She said that detectives located a stolen rifle believed to have been used during the robbery as well as property stolen during the Moss Bluff incident. Myers said that information showed that Johnson knew Jones was wanted by the CPSO and that she provided detectives with false information, further hindering the investigation.

Johnson has been charged with accessory after the fact of attempted first degree murder and accessory after the fact of armed robbery and was released Friday on a $50,000 bond set by Judge Davis.

Myers said that the investigation is continuing and that more arrests are likely.

CPSO Det. Travis Lavergne is the lead investigator on this case.
