Former Calcasieu Parish School Board member Charles “Chuck” Hansen, 54, of Sulphur pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of indecent exposure at a trial readiness hearing in San Diego.
According to Gerry Braun, chief of staff with the San Diego Office of City Attorney, Hansen was “sentenced to three years of probation, 20 days of public work service and mandatory sex offender classes.”
Braun said criminal protective orders were issued for three years for both victims.
Hansen will have to register as a sex offender for life.
The hearing was rescheduled twice from its original Jan. 12 hearing date. Hansen had pleaded not guilty during an arraignment in October of last year.
For the initial complainant, a 17-year-old female, Hansen faced one count each of annoying or molesting a person believed to be under the age of 17, willfully, lewdly, unlawfully exposing his person and the private parts thereof; and lewd, dissolute conduct in a public place or a place exposed to public view. Hansen faced one count of willfully, unlawfully exposing his person and one count of lewd dissolute conduct with regard to the second complainant.
Hansen was arrested on Sept. 30 after the San Diego Police Department received a call from the 17-year-old victim, claiming a man in a car had stopped her as she walked down a sidewalk. When she approached his vehicle, the victim said Hansen was masturbating. She was able to provide officers with a description of Hansen and his vehicle. The SDPD stopped Hansen several blocks away from the scene of the incident and arrested him.
Late last year, Hansen has resigned his seat with the school board, on which he served for nearly three years. Prior to that, Hansen was alternately a school principal, coach, teacher, and special education teacher at schools in Iowa, DeQuincy and Sulphur.
