A 21-year-old Iowa, La., woman accused of hitting a man with a vehicle was indicted Thursday in state district court.
Iowa police on Jan. 9 arrested Ebony Miller, who witnesses said drove away from Cypress Street after striking a man with a black Chevrolet Malibu.
Detective Sgt. Russell Jimenez said police found the victim lying on the ground with severe injuries. The man was treated at a local hospital and released.
Miller was initially charged with aggravated assault, but her charges were upgraded on Jan. 12 to attempted second-degree murder and hit-and-run. Bond was set at $152,500.
On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Miller on one count of aggravated second-degree battery. She remains in custody at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
