ELTON — The Coushatta Farmers’ Market will be held from 7:30 a.m.–noon Saturday at the Koasati Plaza on the corner of U.S. 190 and Pine Street.
The day’s activities will include the fourth annual Coushatta Farmers’ Market Amateur Jambalaya Cook-Off. Cooking teams will begin setting up at 6:45 a.m. with cooking to start at 7 a.m.
Jambalaya samples will be provided to the judges at 11 a.m. with winners announced by noon. The top three places will receive cash prizes and special trophies. There will also be a People’s Choice Award with a prize pot and special trophy.
Free, live entertainment by Bernie Alan Band and DJ Tyski begins at 9 a.m.
The Coushatta Farmers’ Market is sponsored by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, the Coushatta Casino Resort and Lake Charles Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
