A 22-year-old Lake Charles man was indicted Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting on Opelousas Street in November.
Aaron Joseph Stevens Jr. was indicted in state district court on charges of second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
Authorities said Stevens shot Phillip Babineaux, 46, on Nov. 30 at Babineaux’s residence in the 300 block of Opelousas Street while trying to rob him. Lake Charles police said Babineaux was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.
Stevens was arrested at a Legion Street home on Jan. 18 and was charged with second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
He is in the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
