For those under the impression that North Korea would now sit back and begin calm, measured diplomacy … have you ever paid any attention to North Korea?
North Korean state media warned the United States of a "super-mighty preemptive strike" after U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the United States was looking at ways to bring pressure to bear on North Korea over its nuclear programme.
What kind of strike was that again?
"In the case of our super-mighty preemptive strike being launched, it will completely and immediately wipe out not only U.S. imperialists' invasion forces in South Korea and its surrounding areas but the U.S. mainland and reduce them to ashes," it said.
Ah. Super-mighty nuclear ashes are the best kind of nuclear ashes. They’re threatening to destroy Japan, South Korea and the United States in no particular order.
As usual, the greatest export of North Korea is belligerent, militant bluster. However, Donald Trump seems to be under two delusions — one, that the best way to handle a cornered, rabid wombat is to poke it with a stick; and two, that somehow throwing our own set of threats that we’re not prepared to act on is an appropriate response to someone who is throwing a set of threats they’re not prepared to act on.
