JENNINGS — Police continue to look for the person who fatally struck a woman in a hit-and-run accident just northeast of Jennings earlier this week.
Authorities said 34-year-old Alesia Renee Dietz was hit by a vehicle as she was walking along the overpass on La. 97, between Jennings and Evangeline, late Monday or early Tuesday.
Police were called to the scene at about 6 a.m. Tuesday after someone reported a body lying on La. 97. They said evidence indicates the vehicle could be a 2000-2005 burgundy to red Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. It should have damage to its windshield, front end and sides, said Deputy Chief Danny Semmes.
As of Friday, Jennings police had received over 50 tips. “We have plenty to follow up on, and we do follow every lead,” Semmes said.
