Texas woman arrested after pursuit ends in crash

A Port Arthur, Texas, woman was arrested Friday after she tried to flee from police and then flipped and crashed her vehicle, authorities said.

Karissa Cherie Durman, 30, was charged with reckless operation and aggravated flight and was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish jail.

She was then taken to Calcasieu Parish, where she was charged with speeding, reckless operation, aggravated flight and no driver’s license.

A state trooper tried to stop Durman for speeding on Interstate 10 East in Lake Charles at about 4 p.m., said Sgt. James Anderson.

Durman tried to elude the trooper, exiting at Opelousas Street and fleeing east on La. 3258 and through the town of Iowa before losing control east of U.S. 165, Anderson said.

Durman and a male passenger were wearing a seat belt, he said, and no one was injured. Speeds reached up to 100 mph, and the pursuit lasted about 12 minutes, Anderson said.
