Third person indicted for Tulip Street shooting

A 25-year-old Lake Charles man was indicted Thursday in connection with a fatal shooting in April on Tulip Street.

A grand jury indicted Andre Jordan Broussard in state district court on one count of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Authorities said Broussard was one of three people involved in the shooting death of Cody Lastrapes, 22, and the injuring of another man and two women in the 2000 block of Tulip Street on April 6.

Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon said the victims weren’t the intended targets and that 79 shell casings from four weapons were recovered from the scene.

Broussard was arrested April 11 and charged with second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. He remains in the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

The two others charged in the shooting — J’Kristopher D. Scott, 19, and Jamar Harmon, 16 — were indicted on April 20 on one count each of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. Harmon, a juvenile, will be tried as an adult.
