Entertainment Weekly’s new paywall is a sign of the future at Time Inc.

You might have heard: Time Inc. is racing its own falling print revenue, leading to testing paywalls on its magazine websites

But did you know: Entertainment Weekly’s website quietly rolled out a metered paywall last week, a sign of things to come at other Time Inc. titles. Non-registered readers will have access to 10 articles each month, and non-subscribed registered users will have access to 15 articles each month. Articles accessed through social media will be free. EW.com is the first Time Inc. title to use a metered paywall, while People and Time magazines have used paid content strategies in the past.

+ Have we reached the peak of free on the Internet? Business and media reporter Jason Abbruzzese says yes: “The Internet won’t survive until people start paying for the things they find on it” (Mashable)
