When politicians block out reporters, Jay Rosen says reporters shouldn’t talk about their “role” in the campaign because there’s no guaranteed role for journalists. Rather, Rosen says political reporters should figure out what voters want candidates to talk about, persuading voters that you’re on their side so the campaigns have to take notice.
