Professor Anne Krueger of the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies has produced a fascinating assessment of Hillary Clinton’s economic platform. Its overall conclusion is quite negative: “there must be significant fiscal adjustments” and “policies must be adopted that are more conducive to economic growth.” The report indicates that although “[a]ttempts to “offset the recession” with expansionary fiscal policy” have been tried for years, America’s problems are not of the business cycle variety, and solving them through fiscal expansion “has not worked, and will not work.”
