But did you know: With Jack Griffin unexpectedly removed as CEO on Tuesday, Rick Edmonds says things may be lining up for a breakup of Tribune Publishing. Under Griffin’s strategy of pursuing national advertising and scale, selling the Los Angeles Times didn’t make sense. But with a new CEO, that may no longer be true, Edmonds says: “The stage is set for Tribune to entertain offers for its various newspaper properties, pull back to focus on the Chicago Tribune and invest the proceeds in new media tech ventures.”
