Guests at Chuck E. Cheese’s were evacuated Sunday after the showroom started smoking, said employee Kiersten Garrick.
The Lake Charles Fire Department was on the scene and assistant fire chief Dale Sarvaunt said they found the problem in an air conditioner unit. He said he believes that a motor burnt up.
“We turned the power off. They’re going to have to call an A/C man,” said Sarvaunt.
“It’s not safe for the guests,” said general manager Josselin Padilla. She said a representative from the corporate office and an electrician were en route to the location.
David Ceaser and his family drove from Eunice for a party for his grandson which will have to be postponed.
“My daughter left all her balloons and decorations in the building,” said Ceaser.
