RUSTON — Sophomore Nola Prickett’s goal lifted McNeese State to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Louisiana Tech Wednesday in a women’s soccer game.
Cowgirls senior Bettina Brulhart hit a shot off the inside of the far post to tie the score at 1-all in the 60th minute, 10 minutes after Louisiana Tech’s Kathryn Sloan scored the opening goal.
Drew Fitzgerald was a winner in his debut as Cowgirls head coach. It was the first time in four games that the Cowgirls (1-1) won in Ruston. Louisiana Tech fell to 1-1.
“We played really hard tonight and took a game off of a really good Louisiana Tech team,” Fitzgerald said. “I think we can be more organized and more dangerous in the attack, but I am very proud of this team win.”
McNeese host Texas State at 7 p.m. Friday in its home opener.
“Now we have to get ready for a short turnaround and an opponent that always makes life hard on us in Texas State,” Fitzgerald said.
