Jeff Davis flood news

Curfew continues for Lake Arthur

LAKE ARTHUR — A mandatory evacuation and dusk-to-dawn curfew are in effect for Lake Arthur as the flood threat continues.

No one will be allowed on the streets in vehicles or on foot during the curfew, officials said.

Jeff Davis Parish road closures

La. 382 south of U.S. 90 at the bayou, La. 101 north of Hayes, and La. 26 — between Jennings and Lake Arthur — and U.S. 90 east of Jennings are closed.

Traffic restricted on Mermentau

Boat traffic has been restricted on the Mermentau River from the Intracoastal Waterway to Mermentau.

The closure is to prevent boats from pushing water into homes and over the levees.

Relief distribution center open

JENNINGS — A relief distribution and drop-off center for flood victims will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Monday at the old Gulf Coast Autoplex, 407 Shankland Ave.

Cleaning supplies, toiletries, baby products, fans, mosquito spray, pet food, and nonperishable food items may be picked up or dropped off at the location.
