The first of 10 Single Parent Support Group sessions is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Epps Memorial Library, 1320 N. Simmons St.
The support group — led by Pink Life, a local non-profit organization — will meet twice a month. Ryan Clemons, director of Pink Life, said the sessions provide single mothers and fathers the chance to connect, hear advice and be encouraged.
“It gives parents advice in living up to their full potential and living with a purpose, which enables them to live a victorious life,” she said.
The program will address topics like self-examination, setting personal and family goals, responsibilities, self-motivation, purpose, time management and self-love. It will also touch on how parents can be positive role models for their children.
Clemons said financial burden and discipline are two common issues single parents often face.
“We want to uplift parents, empower them and let them know that they’re not alone,” she said.
Those who attend the sessions will receive free diapers and wipes. Childcare will be also provided along with light refreshments.
