A 33-year-old Lake Charles woman who pleaded guilty in May to one count of wire fraud was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in federal prison, said U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley.
Melissa D. Crookshank, who worked as a bookkeeper for a Hackberry company, stole $235,155.79 from her employer from 2009 to 2015, Finley said. Crookshank issued checks to herself and deposited them in her own bank accounts, she said. Crookshank was also given three years of supervised release and was ordered to repay the money, Finley said.
