DeRidder city officials will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 to discuss upcoming road improvements.
The City Council recently introduced an ordinance to allow the city to enter a contract with R.C. Paving Inc. for overlay work on some city roads. A few roads will be given further attention and dug up in areas to be repaired.
Council members asked Public Works Director Todd Sherman about the process used to determine which roads would be worked on.
“We basically look at all city streets and then determine which ones are the worst of the worst,” Sherman said.
He said that once a list is compiled and prioritized, it is sent to Mayor Ron Roberts for approval. At the request of council Vice Chairman Keith Hooper, that list will be provided to the panel for review at the hearing.
