The Houston Exotic Reptile and Pet Show is coming to Lake Charles for the first time, with shows scheduled 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Civic Center Exhibition Hall.
The expo will feature hundreds of vendors and breeders from around the country. Those who attend can view thousands of reptiles, amphibians, insects and other exotic animals that will be available for purchase.
The Houston-based show takes place in several cities in Texas, along with New Orleans and Oklahoma City.
The event will features a Kid’s Corner where children can learn about the animals while interacting with them. They can also take a photo with their favorite animal. Guest speakers and a live rattlesnake demonstration will also take place.
A silent auction will be held with proceeds benefitting the U.S. Association of Reptile Keepers.
One-day tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Two-day passes are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.

The first 100 people at the event on both days are entered into a drawing to get cash, free tickets, merchandise and other prizes.
