The War Memorial Civic Center, at 250 West Seventh St. in DeRidder, will host a Veterans Day luncheon 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4.
Guest speaker will be Homer Rodgers, a state Department of Veteran Affairs undersecretary. All local veterans and their families are invited.
“We have been doing this for about six years now, and it is always a great event with a big crowd,” said Beauregard Parish Police Juror Carlos Archield. “Lunch will be provided, and we just hope to offer everyone an enjoyable time that afternoon.”
An open house at 8 a.m. will showcase the history of the civic center, which was the nation’s first off-base USO.
The building, home to many World War II artifacts, houses an office for the state Department of Veterans Affairs and will celebrate its 75th year on Nov. 27.
