The Louisiana Choral Foundation’s Masterworks Chorale will perform Christmas concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Lake Charles and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, in Immaculate Conception Church in Sulphur.
Artistic director Darryl Jones said the performances will feature the music of Mark Hayes’ “Gloria,” which focuses on the angelic proclamations on the eve of Jesus’ birth.
“The cathedral just magnifies the sound and gives it such a special touch, it really is something,” said chorus member Cheryl Gott. “Audiences always leave with a special inspiration after the performances in the cathedral.”
Gott said there are always children in attendance at the performances, and that this year’s event will have a special treat for them.
“We will be performing the poem ‘ ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,’ “ she said. “But it will be set to beautiful music and rhythm that is just magnificent to hear. I think they are really going to enjoy it.”
Tickets are $15 for adults — and free for children and students with valid IDs — and can be purchased at Swicegood Music, 308 East Prien Lake Road.
