A 28-year-old Lake Charles woman was arrested Wednesday after she left two children in a store and two others alone in a locked vehicle, authorities said.
Krisshata Esclovon left two children, ages 9 and 10, in an La. 14 store Wednesday night, said Kim Myers, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. At her residence, deputies found Esclovon lying on the couch next to an envelope of marijuana, Myers said.
Two children seen with Esclovon — ages 1 and 4 — were found locked in a car, she said.
Detectives were unable to obtain a statement from Esclovon due to her level of impairment, Myers said.
Esclovon was charged with four counts of child desertion, along with possession of marijuana. Judge Mike Canaday set bond at $42,500.
One child was released to his mother and the other three, who are Esclovon’s children, were released to a family member.
